County teen dies after shooting self at gun range

An 18-year-old Livingston County resident was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday at Peacemakers Indoor Gun Range, located at 158 Catrell Drive in Howell, north of Grand River Avenue.

According to a release from the City of Howell Police Department, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound on the range at about noon on Tuesday, March 19. When they arrived, officers found Ellis Kender, 18, dead from a gunshot wound.

Police said Kender was alone on the range at the time of the shooting, and that there is no suspicion of foul play. At the time of his death, Kender had multiple pieces of identification on him reflecting different addresses, all in Livingston County.
