Sharing is caring!

Some Livingston County families will have a brighter holiday season this month thanks to the generosity of Livingston County Democrats.

The party’s annual virtual drive for Gleaners Community Food Bank ended Dec. 15 with donations totaling $2,902. When non-perishable food donations are included, the drive resulted in the equivalent of 8,802 meals for those in need.

“No one in our country should go hungry any time, but especially during the holidays,” said Judy Daubenmier, chair of the Livingston County Democratic Party. “That’s why Livingston Dems try every year to help as many people as possible stretch their food dollars with a food drive. It’s one way that we Democrats try to live out our value of compassion for others.”

Gleaners is an excellent partner, she said, because its tremendous buying power can make donations go much farther than if individuals purchase food themselves.

Besides operating its store in Genoa Township, Gleaners also has mobile food distribution sites and helps support food pantries.
