North Star Reach, the ninth U.S. residential camp in the SeriousFun Children’s Network founded by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, was a beneficiary of the 2024 Corrigan Golf Outing, held on Monday, Aug. 26. The event raised $32,000 to support North Star Reach’s mission of providing life-changing camp experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families.

The Corrigan Golf Outing, co-hosted by Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy and Bank of Ann Arbor, marked a sellout year with incredible community support. The event has become a highlight for participants and sponsors alike, raising funds for local nonprofits that make a meaningful difference.

“We are honored to support the incredible work of North Star Reach, which provides life-changing experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families,” said Amy Hackett, organizer of the Corrigan Golf Outing. “This event is always a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community, and we’re proud to help raise the funds for such an important cause.”

J.J. Lewis, CEO of North Star Reach, expressed gratitude for being selected as a beneficiary for the first time.

“This generous donation from the Corrigan Golf Outing will help us create opportunities for joy, connection, and unforgettable experiences for children and families in 2025,” Lewis said. “It was a privilege for our team to volunteer at this incredible event, and we are grateful to Amy, Sheriff Murphy, the Bank of Ann Arbor, and all the participants for their support. This day truly showcased the power of community coming together for a shared mission.”

Funds from the event will directly support North Star Reach’s camp programs, ensuring that children facing serious health challenges can experience the magic of camp in a medically safe and welcoming environment, completely free of charge. North Star Reach is located in Pinckney.
