A high-speed road rage incident on northbound U.S. 23 Friday caused one vehicle to roll over north of White Lake Road in Tyrone Township, sending its driver to the hospital in stable condition.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, three vehicles were involved in a road rage incident at approximately 7:37 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, as they traveled north on U.S. 23 at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
One of the vehicles involved was a 2011 Ford Fiesta driven by a 31-year-old Grand Blanc woman. She lost control of her vehicle, which slid into the median, re-entered the roadway, crossed both northbound lanes of travel and headed into the ditch on the right shoulder. When the Ford Fiesta hit the ditch, it overturned and rolled back onto the roadway, blocking the right lane of travel.
The woman driving the Ford Fiesta suffered several lacerations to her head and was transported to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc in stable condition by Livingston County EMS. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
One of the other vehicles in this road rage incident has been identified as a tan Chevrolet Equinox. The drivers of the two other vehicles have not been identified.
The roadway was closed for approximately an hour for cleanup.
Speed and road rage appear to be factors in this crash, which remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Division.
Deputies were assisted on the scene by Fenton Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.
