Community story slam set for Sept. 30 in Brighton

A collaboration of Brighton-Area churches is hosting a Community Story Slam from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Brewery Becker, 500 W. Main St. in downtown Brighton.

The slam theme is “Stand Corrected: Stories about Failures, Flops, and Fumbles,” and Amir Baghdadchi from The Moth Radio Hour is hosting. Beverages will be available for purchase; First United Methodist Church will provide free food. A prize sponsored by Abigail Hospice will be awarded to the winner. The line up of storytellers includes: the Rev. DJ Reed, the Rev. Scott Phillips, and the Rev. Angie Miller; additional storytellers (who do not have to be clergy) are encouraged to join.

Sponsoring congregations are from the churches of St. Paul’s Episcopal, First Presbyterian, First United Methodist of Brighton and Whitmore Lake, Chilson Hills Church of Howell, and Community Unitarian Universalists in Brighton.
