At about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a traffic crash involving a commercial motor vehicle hitting the Crouse Road overpass bridge on northbound U.S. 23 in Hartland Township.

The hydraulic tilting mechanism on a 2019 Mack used to haul dumpsters had not been lowered after a drop-off, making the vehicle over height for the overpass on Crouse Road. The sign on the overpass fell after the truck hit it, and it was struck by a 27-year-old Linwood resident as it fell.

There were no injuries reported. Crouse Road will remain closed until further notice, and northbound U.S. 23 will remain one lane until MDOT investigators complete their work.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Hartland Area Fire Department, Michigan State Police Motor Carrier, and Michigan Department of Transportation.
