COLUMN: Killing all of the right people

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham

It is becoming more and more clear that through a lethal combination of ignorance, arrogance, and incompetence, as well as a dose of MAGA-inspired testosterone, our tax dollars were used to bomb an Iranian school, killing about 175 people. Most of those killed were girls between the ages of 7 and 12.

Or as Lindsey Graham would say, “We’re killing all the right people.”

Graham, a U.S. senator from South Carolina, made those remarks late last year during a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition. Obviously, he knows his audience since who better than Jews can appreciate the value of having a powerful, mostly unchecked government deciding that there are “right people” who need to be killed.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump still maintains that the Iranians did the bombing, despite even his own administration’s findings to the contrary. To be fair, he can’t be expected to know everything – especially when he, his family, and his friends needed to make sure their insider-trading transactions were confirmed before the missiles fell.

How bad are things in America? We are killing young girls in Iran to draw attention away from the men who were sexually preying on young girls in America.

Trump is among those who are linked to the Epstein sex trafficking scandal. Among the multitude of files are summaries of FBI interviews with a woman who claimed Trump raped her years ago when she was 13. She claimed Trump hit her when she bit his penis. It is unclear if she described his penis and, if so, whether that description matched the description given by porn star Stormy Davis.

There is no collaborating evidence for the woman’s claims, although it’s fair to mention that the man she accuses says it’s his right to grab women by the pussy, and who brags about moving in on women – especially married women – “like a bitch.” He also chuckled in agreement when a radio host described his daughter as “a piece of ass.”

Just a reminder that we are discussing the president who sends many evangelical Christians into rapturous spasms. The Lord moves in mysterious ways. That’s what it says in Two Corinthians.

Trump’s administrative lackeys are so locked into transparency that they repeatedly hid, suppressed, and covered up evidence of the woman’s claims, despite a law that the Epstein files be released months ago.

Not to be outdone, congressional Republicans were so eager to get to the bottom of things that for six hours they grilled Hillary Clinton, a woman who has never met Epstein. Key Republican suspects including Trump were not questioned. Perhaps, instead, they’ll interview Tom Hanks.

It’s easy – and accurate – to blame the media for its failure to adequately cover the Trump Administration’s outrages, lies, fraud, and hypocrisy. Compare, for just one example, the wall-to-wall blathering about Barack Obama’s birth certificate compared to the tiptoeing whispers about the rape allegations against Trump.

To be fair, it’s almost impossible for them to keep up. Pete Hegseth is spending tens of millions on Grand pianos and lobster. Charlie Kirk’s widow is appointed to an Air Force Academy board. Photographers are barred from press briefings because Hegseth found his pictures were unflattering. An unqualified “influencer” was nominated to be surgeon general. A possibly even less-qualified lawmaker will likely replace a puppy-killer as the next Secretary of Homeland Security. That’s pretty much it for a Tuesday.

Oh, and the president started an unconstitutional war, threatening oil supplies, destabilizing the entire Mideast, driving down the stock market, spiking gas prices, putting American lives in danger, spending billions of tax dollars, and opening up opportunities for both the Russians and the Chinese. We also bombed a school and killed 175 people.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump warned us that if we voted for Kamala Harris we would end up in a war in Iran. More than 75 million voters failed to heed that warning and voted for Harris. And we got a war in Iran.

At least, the “right people” are dying.
