A clerk working alone at the 7-Eleven at 3100 Highland Road in Howell Township sustained injuries to his head, face and mouth when he failed to open a safe at the store during an armed robbery.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, at about 1:45 a.m. Monday, July 21, when deputies responded, the clerk told them two men had entered the store, and one of them, armed with a handgun, ordered him to open the safe. When the clerk couldn’t get the safe open, the first suspect struck him multiple times in the head. The suspects then forced the clerk to open the cash register, and while he was doing that, the second suspect struck him in the face.
The two suspects took an undetermined amount of money, and ordered the clerk to lie on the floor until they left.
The clerk, who sustained minor injuries to his head, face, and mouth, called 9-1-1- after confirming the suspects were gone. He identified the suspects as Black males with facial coverings.
