Cleary University’s fourth annual Sip, Savor and Support fundraising event to help students who need financial assistance is set for 6:30-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Cleary Commons on the Cleary University campus.
Guests will enjoy an evening of Southern hospitality and Kentucky Derby charm, including live music, inspired cuisine and spirited fun, all to support Cleary’s Gift of Graduation scholarship fund.
Cost is $60 a person ($80 for the bourbon tasting experience).
The evening features Southern-inspired hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps and other signature themed cocktails, wine an local brews. There will also be live jazz and bluegrass music by the Jarrod Champion Duo, a silent auction filled with unique items and experiences, and a crowd favorite – the Derby Betting Parlor – where guests can play fast-paced horse racing games. Attendees are encouraged to add to the Kentucky Derby atmosphere by dressing in derby-style attire.
Proceeds from Sip, Savor and Support will go toward the Gift of Graduation, a scholarship designed specifically for students who face financial hardships at a critical time in their education: just a few months before completing the final college credits they need to earn their degree.
“Every student who is forced to drop out of school so close to graduation represents a major loss, not only for themselves, but for their family, prospective employers waiting to hire Cleary graduates, and the community,” said Tom Egan, director of development at Cleary. “At Cleary, our goal is to help these students bridge the gap for needed funding so they can cross that graduation finish line.”
