Cleary University is proud to partner with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra for a free holiday concert, “Brass & Boughs,” which will take place 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Cleary Commons. The entire community is welcome.

The Secunda Social Hour kicks off the evening from 6-7 p.m. Concert-goers have an opportunity to create a collage-style ornament inspired by internationally renown artist Arthur Secunda, whose largest collection of art is on display in the Arthur Secunda Museum on Cleary University’s campus. His Swiss Mountain lithograph (on exhibit in the museum) serves as the design idea for the ornament. Cleary will provide colorful materials and sheet music from Ann Arbor Symphony partners to create the ornaments. There is no cost to make an ornament.

The evening at Cleary includes ornament-making from 6-7 p.m., the concert by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet from 7-8 p.m., and light snacks and refreshments (beer and wine is available to purchase – credit card only). The event is free, parking is available at the Cleary Commons and on campus, and seating is first-come, first-served. Donations to support future concerts are greatly appreciated.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra has been part of Ann Arbor’s cultural life for more than 90 years. Four musicians from a local Methodist church formed the group in 1928 to perform at services, and it has since grown to become the largest arts employer in Washtenaw County.

Cleary University is located at 3750 Cleary Drive in Howell (west of Latson Road and off Grand River Avenue). Cleary Commons is the first building to the right when entering the campus.
