Cleary University is launching a new bachelor of business administration degree with a major in media production management. To facilitate the new degree, Cleary is building a full-scale media production lab on its campus, where most classes will take place.
The new degree, developed with Wayne Media Group in Brighton, will begin in the fall. It is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they will need to excel in media production. Rob Johnson, founder and CEO of Wayne Media Group, developed the entire course curriculum and initially will serve as the program’s instructor.
“Our partnership with Wayne Media Group allows us to provide a unique educational experience that blends business acumen with creative media production skills,” said Alan Drimmer, president of Cleary. “This program will empower our students to become leaders in an industry that is constantly evolving and looking for professionals prepared with real-world working knowledge.”
The media production management concentration focuses on the creative and managerial aspects of media production. Students will gain hands-on experience in creating and managing audio and video content, with an emphasis on storytelling, project management, and the use of industry-standard tools and technologies.
“At Wayne Media Group, we believe in the power of storytelling and its impact on businesses and communities,” Johnson said. “Partnering with Cleary University allows us to shape the next generation of media professionals who will drive innovation and excellence in the field.”
Cleary’s Media Production Management concentration curriculum includes:
• Storytelling for Professional Communications: Students will learn to apply storytelling techniques to create compelling media that serves its intended audience.
• Fundamentals of Media Production: This course introduces students to the basics of electronic photography, video, and audio production.
• Media Production Management: Students will apply management tools and techniques in media production environments.
• Applications of Media Production in Marketing and Social Media: Students will develop integrated media campaigns using their production skills.
• Gamified Media: Students will create interactive interfaces for entertainment, informational, and educational gamified applications in various industries.
Graduates of the program will be prepared for a variety of positions in the field, including media production manager, content creator, social media strategist, marketing media specialist, and digital media producer. These roles span multiple industries, providing ample opportunities for growth and specialization, Johnson said.
“Cleary continues to make educational strides to ensure the long-term success of our graduates,” Drimmer said. “When other colleges and universities are cutting back on programs, Cleary is expanding ours.”
