Sharing is caring!

If you are interested in getting a real life view of what it is like to be a sheriff’s deputy in Livingston County, the Citizen’s Police Academy — a 17-week-long, once-a-week class — begins April 17.

Sessions are set for 6-8 p.m. Thursdays from April 17 through Aug. 31, which is graduation day. Classes consist of scenario-based applications; a jail tour; special units; crime scene and accident investigations; shoot, don’t shoot scenarios; and more.

There will be one week that class takes place on a Saturday at the Fowlerville Proving Grounds dealing with emergency vehicle operation, which means driving a patrol car, lights and sirens through a precision course.

Classes are free for all Livingston County residents, and are limited to the first 14 participants, 18 years and older.

If you are interested, or know of someone who is, or if you have questions, contact Deputy Ray Marino at rmarino@livgov.com or by calling (517) 546-2440, ext: 4351, and we will send an application.
