Prom season is just around the corner, and LACASA is once again opening the doors to Cinderella’s Closet, the popular pop-up boutique offering stylish, gently-loved formal wear at affordable prices.

From March 19–22, high school students can shop $25 gowns, dresses, and suits, along with deeply discounted shoes and accessories to complete their look. Every purchase supports LACASA’s vital services for survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual violence.

More than just a shopping event, Cinderella’s Closet creates a welcoming, uplifting space where students are surrounded by encouraging messages, guidance for making healthy choices, and supportive adults who want them to feel confident and celebrated.

“In a time when families are feeling the strain of rising costs, Cinderella’s Closet ensures prom remains a joyful milestone, not a financial burden,” said LACASA President and CEO Bobette Schrandt. “Every student deserves to feel confident and celebrated on prom night. When they shop here, they’re not only finding the perfect outfit, but they’re also helping other young people and families in our community find hope and healing.”

Schrandt also noted the event’s environmental impact. “This initiative is a beautiful example of community coming full circle. Donated dresses and suits are given new life, reducing textile waste while making prom accessible and meaningful for local students.”

Those wishing to donate formal wear can drop items off at LACASA Collection charity resale boutique during regular business hours or contact Snedicor’s Green Earth Cleaners for pickup and cleaning services.

Cinderella’s Closet is open to high school students only, and a valid student ID is required. A limited number of formal wear scholarships are available; students may inquire with staff or volunteers on site.

This year’s pop-up boutique will be located at Kensington Valley Outlets in a storefront just down from LACASA Collection (next to the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Outlet). As an added bonus, shoppers will receive a 25% off coupon for shoes and accessories at LACASA Collection to complete their look.

LACASA is thrilled to again welcome special guest and Livingston County native Hannah Palmer, Miss Michigan 2025, to Cinderella’s Closet. Palmer, who shopped at Cinderella’s Closet during her high school years, will be on hand to help out, take photos, and sign autographs from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21.

Volunteers are still needed to help set up, staff, and take down the boutique. Those interested can email Volunteering@lacasacenter.org.
