Livingston County Catholic Charities is moving on west, to Howell Township, to the former LACASA Center building at 2895 W. Grand River Ave.

Prior to the purchase, Catholic Charities has been renting its current space at 2020 E. Grand River Ave., east of National Street in Howell, since it was founded in 1985.

The purchase price of the former LACASA building was $1.5 million. Renovations on the building are planned, with a move-in date of June 2025. The renovation budget is set at $1.2 million, which will be financed through a mortgage.

The move enables LCCC to expand its services, as well as consolidate its operations under one roof. Currently, LCCC is spread across three buildings that total about 12,000 square feet; the new location will provide over 14,000 square feet of space, with an additional 3,000 square feet of basement storage and office space.

LCCC is planning to add a chapel, more therapy rooms, an expanded Be Our Guest Adult Day program with a fire safety system, green space behind the building, a renovated parking lot, and additional office spaces for growth. The basement and hallway storage will help optimize office and conference room spaces.

LCCC also looks forward to featuring a saints’ series throughout the building to celebrate the Catholic faith and honor those who have served throughout the church’s history.

In a release, LCCC thanked its board of directors, occupancy committee, Griffith Realty, and all staff and community members who supported it through this transition. LCCC also thanked the Diocese of Lansing, and those who have contributed to the building fund.
