Byron man killed in Handy Township crash

At about 11:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Allen and Fowlerville roads in Handy Township.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, a 32-year-old Byron man was driving a 2007 Pontiac G5 north on Fowlerville Road when he lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the roadway into a tree. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was the only person in the vehicle, and he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to the release, speed and alcohol may be factors in the crash.

The roadway was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation and cleanup.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Fowlerville Police Department, the Fowlerville Fire Department, and Livingston County EMS.
