“Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” screening at Historic Howell Theater to benefit North Star Reach camp program

North Star Reach, a nonprofit camp providing life-changing experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families, is hosting “Legends at the Box Office: Raising a Little Hell for Paul Newman’s 100th,” on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2at the Historic Howell Theater in downtown Howell.

The celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. with a birthday bash featuring cake and festivities to honor the legacy of Paul Newman, founder of the SeriousFun Children’s Network, of which North Star Reach is a proud member. At 4:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy a screening of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” the iconic film that inspired Newman to establish his first camp, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.northstarreach.org/legends-at-the-box-office/. In addition, 10% of concession sales during the event will be donated to North Star Reach by the Historic Howell Theater.

The event will also feature a brown paper bag raffle, a North Star Reach tradition. Raffle tickets, available for $5, offers the chance to win exciting prizes, including a stunning diamond bezel lariat necklace donated by Taline’s Fine Jewelry.

As 2025 marks the “Year of Serious Fun,” this event serves as the inaugural celebration, aiming to raise funds to support North Star Reach’s upcoming camp programs. Community members and local businesses can participate by purchasing event and raffle tickets; donating in-kind items for the raffle; and becoming event sponsors, with various sponsorship opportunities available.
