The roundabouts at Lee and Whitmore Lake roads in Green Oak Township have once again made the list of Top 20 Most Dangerous Intersections in Michigan. Located just off U.S. 23 near Costco and the Green Oak Village Place mall, the roundabouts, which have been controversial with area drivers since they opened in the summer of 2006, ranked No. 13 on the list of 20 Most Dangerous Intersections in 2024.
According to the report, there were 80 total crashes and 3 injuries at the roundabouts, which underwent a $1 million reconstruction in 2018 to reduce the number of accidents there.
The roundabout has made the Michigan Auto Law list before. It ranked No. 7 on the list in 2020, and No. 20 in 2022.
Michigan Auto Law uses data from the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reporting Unit. Each list uses traffic data from the previous year.
The top three intersections on the list for 2024 are located in Detroit.
