“Upper Peninsula Fun in the Sun” is the featured book for the Kiwanis Storywalk on the Tridge at the Mill Pond in Downtown Brighton during August and September. The book is written by Howell resident Johnny Storm and illustrated by Larry Ruppert.

A fun, rhyming story for kids where the main character is the person reading it, listening to it or looking at the illustrations. Natural beauty is everywhere in the Upper Peninsula’s Keweenaw region, and childhood summer fun is a sure thing. It never seems to end on the Keweenaw waterway, at the northern tip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

First-time author Johnny Storm grew up in Northville, the second of five children from a sports-oriented family in which he learned teamwork. The determination to succeed was the foundation of everyday life. He graduated from Michigan Tech with a degree in business administration, and he married an Upper Peninsula woman several years later. They now have three grown children.

The illustrator is Larry Ruppert, whose work includes the Dick and Jane series, as well as the Bobbsey Twins. The book is published by Mission Point Press – Traverse City.

The Kiwanis StoryWalk on the Tridge is part of the Kiwanis literacy program featuring Michigan authors and/or illustrators. Kiwanis has partnered with the following business and organizations: Brighton Assembly of God;
