The giving spirit of the season was on full display today as Brighton Ford donated a new Ford E-Transit van to LACASA, strengthening the nonprofit’s ability to serve survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual violence throughout Livingston County.
The vehicle donation was celebrated Monday morning at Brighton Ford, with community members, staff, board members, elected officials, and supporters in attendance for a ceremonial ribbon cutting and the formal hand-off of the keys. The E-Transit van will play a critical role in helping LACASA transport clients, deliver essential resources, and support outreach efforts across the county.

“We appreciate so much what LACASA does to provide safety and security to so many in need,” said president of Brighton Ford John Cueter. “We’re honored to be able to close out the holiday season in such a special way.”
LACASA is the only agency of its sort in Michigan, and one of only a handful in the nation to provide comprehensive services under one roof, including a crisis shelter for people and their pets, a 24/7 helpline, counseling, advocacy, and prevention education, all offered at no cost to victims. Reliable transportation is a vital part of ensuring survivors can safely access resources when they need them most.
“LACASA belongs to the community, and we can’t do what we do without the community,” said LACASA President & CEO Bobette Schrandt, who was moved to tears by the gift. “Now, we’ll be sharing what we do with the community each time this beautiful vehicle is on the road.”
This donation reflects Brighton Ford’s ongoing commitment to community partnership and underscores the power of local businesses investing in the safety, stability, and healing of their neighbors.
Karen Storey, president of the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce, was joined by state Rep. Ann Bollin (R-Brighton Township) to present Cueter and the Brighton Ford team with a Community Impact Award in honor of their longstanding commitment to supporting local organizations and residents. Storey called the generous donation “a moment in a community’s life that helps remind us of who we are.”
