Emily Stone, founder of Whole Mama Michigan, a business in Brighton that says it “changes the way moms are born,” was recently named the grand prize winner of Lake Trust Foundation’s inaugural Entrepreneur Pitch Competition. That win secured $5,000 for her business.

Whole Mama Michigan, launched in 2025, is a local hub designed to be a “one-stop-shop” for maternal and family wellness, connecting families with classes, services, and referrals for support from preconception through the postpartum period, focusing on community and holistic care.

Stone says the $5,000 prize is a game-changer for the business. With these funds, Whole Mama Michigan will be able to:

• Reach more postpartum moms

• Support more expecting couples as they transition to parenthood

• Partner with more local practitioners to provide holistic care

• Build a robust, inclusive community in-person and online

The pitch competition served as the capstone for the first group of the Lake Trust Entrepreneurship Institute at Cleary University, a free, online program that helps local small business owners sharpen their plans, marketing, and financial skills.
