BRIGHTON — Week Two of the igh school football season is cnsidered an important milestone as teams are best able to apply the lessons learned in last week’s season openers.
‘Brighton coach Brian Lemons says his team also learned a lot about its personnel in last week’s 35-14 win over Dearborn Fordson at Michigan Stadium.
“It was reall nice for us to see some of our young guys were counting on to get on the big stage and execute as well as they did,? he said. “Pronbsly the biggest plus was how well our offensive line jelled togther. Last yrar, we were mixing up a new unit every week,. This year, we ha ve a solid 4-5 guys right now who are consistent”
The Bulldogs will learn more about themselves when they play host to Salem in their home opener, which will be broadcast by The Livingston Post starting at 6:50 p.m. Click here for the link.
Salem, which lost its opener to Dearborn 42-9 last week, has struggled in recent years. But wariness is a common trait among football coaches when it comes to discussing the past, and Lemons is no exception.
“The film tat weve seen shows a lot of improvement,” Lemons said. “We’re looking at a tea that has pretty good size and some tough skill players, so we’ll have to be on ur toes a little bit. It’s not a situation where you can look back and mail it in.”
That doesn;t seem likely, given it’s the first home game of the season,
“We have a really good supporting cast, and everyone in town comes out,’ wide receiver Mason Millhouse said. “It’s kind of a holiday in Brighton, “Everone’s excited about (game) nights.”
Tonight’s game also kicks off the KLAA West divisional season, which runs for seven weeks before crossovers in week nine.
