Livingston County knows them as lots of things: Owners of Cooper & Binkley Jewelers, a much-recognized, long-time downtown Brighton business; generous supporters of organizations like LACASA, and the Alzheimer’s Association; community volunteers, boosters, and builders; and all-around wonderful people.
And now we will also know Mark and Barb Binkley as grand marshals of Livingston County’s biggest Fourth of July event: the annual Brighton Fourth of July Parade. It’s a great and well-deserved honor for two people who are such productive and positive forces.
The parade — featuring lots of floats and groups — steps off at 10 a.m. on Brighton’s Main Street.
The Fourth of July festivities in Brighton are coordinated by the Livingston Sunrise Rotary, and there will be lots of fun to be had before the annual parade begins.
The Hungry Duck Run features a 10K and 5K fun run beginning at 6:45 a.m., and a half marathon that starts at 6:30 a.m. You can get more information and register for all by clicking here.
There will be games and other activities for the family beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Main Street in front of the Mill Pond.
A Duckling Dash for the littlest attendees takes place at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street.
After the parade, the Brighton Area Fire Department will be set up on North West and Main streets to spray the crowd with water.
