Wednesday was the media preview event of the always-photogenic Michigan Challenge Balloonist, and this year’s did not disappoint. We are pleased to bring you what is essentially the equivalent of a cinematic Hollywood trailer from the event, produced by the talented Howell artist Susan Pominville.

Check out Pominville’s video, “Sneak Peek: Media Night at Balloonfest 2024,” below.

The 39th annual balloonfest takes to the skies above Livingston County Friday through Sunday, June 28-30, at the Howell High School complex on Grand River Avenue, just west of Howell’s downtown. The family-friendly event features carnival rides, fun attractions for kids, fireworks, and the popular — and always beautiful — balloon launches, fly-ins, and evening glows.

Pominville will also be painting live at the balloonist all weekend. “Balloon Glow,” the painting Pominville produced at last year’s balloonfest, is live on her website. To check it out or order yourself a print, click here.
