Sharing is caring!

The Livingston Educational Service Agency’s 24th Annual Backpacks for Kids project is underway. The initiative is dedicated to providing basic school supplies — at no cost — to Livingston County students whose families are experiencing financial hardship.

Made possible through the generous support of local residents, churches, and businesses, this community-driven effort helps ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed when the school year begins.

“The Backpacks for Kids project truly showcases what we can accomplish when local community members help local students,” said Robin Schutz, Great Start Collaborative Coordinator.

In 2024, more than $15,000 in donations of cash and supplies made it possible to distribute over a thousand fully stocked backpacks to students from preschool through grade 12. The goal is to once again provide 1,000 backpacks to students across the county.

Drop off donations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through July 31 at LESA, 1425 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell.
