Leo Hanifin

Brighton Township resident Dr. Leo E. Hanifin is Dean Emeritus, University of Detroit Mercy (UDM), having served as dean of its College of Engineering and Science for 21 years. Since his retirement, he has been an active advocate for public transportation, racial equity, and other social justice issues, serving as the leader of the Livingston County Transportation Coalition, and several projects focused on faith, race and Catholic Social Teaching. He is the author of the book "A Brief History of Race Relations in Livingston County" (2022).
