Susan Pominville, artist and founder of ART Doing Good, painted “Mooseness,” a vibrant 30-inch by 48-inch oil on canvas, to support North Star Reach, a medically supported camp for children with serious health challenges.
“Mooseness” celebrates the joy, adventure and sense of belonging kids experience at camp, and reflects North Star Reach’s unique concept of community and connection. The painting captures camp favorites like canoeing, the tree house, and the beloved moose mascot, encouraging campers to embrace their adventurous side. Symbolic details, such as an abstract heart in the sky and wildflowers, represent love, resilience, and nature’s healing power.
“’Mooseness’ is more than just a word at North Star Reach,” Pominville said. “It’s a celebration of stepping outside your comfort zone, connecting with others, and finding joy in unexpected places. This painting captures that magic.”

The creation of “Mooseness” has been documented in a timelapse video, offering an inside look at how the piece was developed. The video shows how each layer of bright colors and textured brushstrokes reflect the camp’s energy and beauty.

“This partnership with Susan and ART Doing Good has been truly remarkable,” said J.J. Lewis, North Star Reach CEO. “In ‘Mooseness,’ Susan has beautifully captured the heart and spirit of what makes North Star Reach so special. Camp is a place where children with serious health challenges can step into a world of adventure, connection, and discovery. It’s a space where they belong, create lasting friendships, and build memories that stay with them for a lifetime.
“If you haven’t experienced the magic of camp yet, we invite you to join us at our upcoming open house — come feel the warmth of our community, enjoy live music, and share in the joy of roasting marshmallows around the campfire.”
Pominville’s dedication to using her art to support charitable causes has raised over $50,000 in the past two years through her ART Doing Good initiative.
“I love using my art to make a difference,” she said. “And partnering with North Star Reach is a special opportunity to give back.”
