A 25-year-old Howell Township man is in the Livingston County Jail awaiting arraignment on numerous charges after he threatened family members with a gun and barricaded himself in a home in the 4100 block of West Allen Road around 5:43 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the man lived at the home with his wife and children. He was intoxicated and became upset when his wife attempted to leave the home with the children. He took his 2-year-old son from his mother-in-law, who was on scene assisting, and he locked them out of the home.

The man brandished a gun and made threats toward his wife and mother-in-law. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the man on the phone. He refused to come out of the house to speak with deputies, and he made several comments about having numerous guns inside the house.

The Livingston Region SWAT Team, along with the Livingston Regional Crisis Negotiation Team, arrived to assist. After several hours of negotiating, the man exited the house and surrendered. Authorities found the 2-year-old inside the house uninjured. A search warrant was executed, and numerous firearms were located.
