Pets will be available for adoption with a reduced adoption fee from Oct. 2-14 during the nation’s largest funded adoption event

With animal shelters across the nation facing an overcrowding crisis, thousands of highly adoptable pets are waiting for their second chances. Livingston County Animal Shelter (LCAS) is proud to partner with BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, for its Fall National “Empty the Shelters.”

Livingston County Animal Shelter event guidelines:
·       LCAS will participate Oct. 2-14 at 418 S. Highlander Way, Howell, MI 48843, offering $50 adoption fees for adult dogs, adult cats, and kittens. *Puppies are not participating in the event
·       All interested adopters will need to complete a pre-adopt application
·        All interested adopters can see who is available for adoption by visiting Adoptable Pets – Livingston County, MI (milivcounty.gov)

“Livingston County Animal Shelter is not only the only open admission shelter in the county, but we are also the ONLY shelter in the county. LCAS accepts all domesticated animals in need. Currently, the Shelter is at capacity, with a large concern for our adoptable dogs sitting longer as they wait for homes,” said Christy Peterson, LCAS director. “We are thankful for our partnership with Bissell Pet Foundation, as it is perfect timing as we face overcrowding. Empty The Shelter encourages families to take a closer look at adoption and it opens your eyes to the crisis facing many Michigan shelters. We can’t say it enough, shelter animals are not broken, they have simply experienced more in life than other animals,.”

Adoption is a lifetime commitment. BISSELL Pet Foundation and Livingston County Animal Shelter urge families to do their research about the pet they are interested in adopting, as well as adoption requirements.
