LACASA Center will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2016 and a generous donor is issuing a Triple Giving Challenge this season to launch the nonprofit’s anniversary celebration.

Every dollar donated to LACASA in 2015 will be matched by two additional dollars. That means year-end gifts will have three times the impact for victims of abuse from the community.

“Our goal for this year’s annual appeal is to raise a minimum of $35,000 from members of our community,” said Mike Murphy, LACASA board chair and Livingston County undersheriff.

“LACASA’s angel benefactor will match that amount, and then match it again, which would result in $105,000 or more for the agency. There is no cap on the match amount,” Murphy said.

“These funds are greatly needed,” said Murphy. “The work this agency does is critical to the safety and well-being of our community.”

LACASA first began as a grassroots organization in 1979, and officially was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1981.

The agency provides more than 25 programs and services for victims and survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault from Livingston County.

LACASA also offers community-wide education and awareness programs to help prevent child abuse and interpersonal violence.

“We are so fortunate that this angel donor, who chooses to remain anonymous, trusts in our organization and believes in the work that we do,” said Bobette Schrandt, LACASA president and CEO.

“LACASA is an independent organization and does not receive support from a national parent agency,” Schrandt said. “It is the generosity of our community that makes it possible for us to provide services for all abuse victims at no charge.”

“When donors make a gift to us, they know that their contributions stay local and will benefit the wellbeing of the community as a whole,” said Schrandt.

“Our angel benefactor wants to make this holiday a little brighter for donors and victims by ensuring contributions go three times farther,” Schrandt said. “We have much to be grateful for this season.”
