We asked questions of some of the students involved in the production. Here, we talk to Bria Mayer, a senior at Hartland High School who plays Marci and Glory in “Almost, Maine.”

What do you think is the universal meaning behind this show?
Love: All of the trials and tribulations that go into it and how it affects each person’s life.
What do you hope audiences will take away from this production?
I hope audiences will overall change from this experience and feel each heart wrenching and heartwarming scene to the fullness of its meaning.
What is your theater background? Did you get involved as a child, or is it more of a recent pursuit?
I have been involved with theater since I was in 4th grade and have been in over 20 productions. It is my passion and something I am so grateful to have become involved in.
What extracurriculars and/or clubs are you involved with in addition to Hartland Drama Club?
I was a Hartland varsity cheerleader up to this year, and I am also in “Mary Poppins” at The Fenton Village Players theater. I also am a part of track and other Fenton productions in the springtime.
What are your college plans and hopes next year and for the future?
I plan on going to an in-state university, to study social work and a minor in Psychology. I also hope I can continue my theater experience in college whether through the university or at a community theater!
How has your participation in Hartland Drama Club impacted your high school experience?
I just got involved with Hartland drama Club this year, but it was by far the best decision I have made in High school and I wish I would have gotten involved sooner.
What advice would you give to your character, and what advice would they give to you?
The advice I would give Glory is to not blame herself for the loss of her ex-husband, and to keep an open heart even when it seems difficult. My advice for Marci would be to remember her worthwhile it is hard, but she tried her hardest for her relationship.
