“Almost, Maine” is a romantic comedy by John Cariani, which consists of nine short pieces that explore love and loss in a remote and mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine. (Playwright Cariani is also an American actor best known as forensic technician Julian Beck in “Law and Order.”)
The cast and crew of “Almost, Maine” view Cariani’s romantic comedy as having a little something for everyone. Though the play is targeted toward high school students, an older audience will find it just as appealing. The show is broken into nine scenes, all separate from one another, and they explore the many sides of love. Each piece highlights a specific aspect of relationships that people face every day.
“The depth of the characters and story in ‘Almost,Maine’ has provided our actors with an incredible opportunity to creatively stretch themselves for their roles,” said Scott Usher, the productions artistic director. “The writing is just fantastic. Our creative crews have also once again demonstrated just how much their efforts help tell the story with fantastic set pieces, costumes, props and tech.”
