A 33-year-old Fowlerville man was taken to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor for emergency treatment on Monday after the 2002 Dodge Durango he was driving hit an occupied car in a driveway in the 2000 block of Byron Road in Howell at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash in which the driver of the Durango lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve on Byron Road; he left the road to end up hitting a 2019 GMC Terrain in a driveway with a 63-year-old woman at the wheel and a 92-year-old Howell woman in the passenger seat.

The driver of the Durango sustained significant injuries, according to the release, and he was transported to UM Hospital by Livingston County EMS for emergency treatment. The women in the GMC Terrain declined transportation to the hospital and sought their own treatment.

The investigation into the accident continues.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the Howell City Police Department, Howell Area Fire Department, and Livingston County EMS.
