“The Big Empty” by Kirbi Fagan of Milford is featured on the Brighton Kiwanis StoryWalk on The Ridge at the Brighton Millpond during April and May. The StoryWalk begins at the Brighton City Hall/Imagination Station entry to the Tridge.
“The Big Empty” features vast skies, rugged landscapes, and essential plants as it tells the rich story of the sagebrush, which provides food and shelter for a number of animal species, thrives in tough conditions, and lives for more than a hundred years. With her poetic text and rich illustrations, Kirbi shares its story in the book that is directed for preschoolers to third graders.
Fagan, a graduate of the Kendall School of Design, lives with her husband in Milford where they practice sustainable gardening. She found an encouraging message of hope in sagebrush that she wanted to share with younger generations. Her book is published by Lerner Publishing Group and imprinted by Millbrook at 2 Dandelions Bookshop on Main Street in downtown Brighton.
