Warrant authorized for Judge Theresa Brennan

The Lansing news service MIRS is reporting that a warrant has been authorized for Livingston County District Court Judge Theresa Brennan, charging her with perjury and tampering with evidence. She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on the charges.

MIRS reports that the charges stem from allegations that she deleted potential evidence from her cell phone and lied during depositions during her 2017 divorce proceedings.

Brennan is under investigation by the Judicial Tenure Commission for possible removal from office. She has been on a paid leave of absence since earlier this year, after being removed from the bench by Livingston County Chief Judge Miriam Kavanaugh.

  1. There’s a lot more to the story. This has been getting dragged along and she has been getting paid because she refused to resign. No judge should ever have their own cases assigned to themselves.
