Some of Livingston County’s most beautiful gardens are hidden behind fences, tucked around the corner or quietly tended by homeowners who might never think of their yards as “Garden Tour worthy.”
Those are exactly the spaces the LACASA Garden Tour Committee hopes to discover as it searches for gardens to feature on next year’s LACASA Garden Tour, which will take place Saturday, July 10, 2027.
The committee is looking for distinctive private gardens throughout Livingston County, and it’s asking residents to help uncover them. Whether it’s a backyard transformed over decades, a creative native-plant garden, a colorful perennial haven or a landscape with a story behind it, the committee wants to hear about it.
What makes a garden worthy of the tour?
There’s no one specific formula. The Committee wants to feature spaces that inspire, uplift, and celebrate the beauty that is only found in nature. That could include: creative or unusual designs, mature landscaping, native plants or pollinator gardens, interesting hardscaping or water features, gardens created over many years, gardens with a personal or family story, small gardens that make clever use of space… the list goes on!
And you don’t have to own the garden to nominate it. If there’s a garden in your neighborhood, a friend’s backyard or somewhere you pass regularly that makes you stop and look, the committee would love to know about it.
The timing is important: Committee members are hoping to visit potential gardens this summer and early fall, while they can still see them in bloom.
The LACASA Garden Tour is a cherished annual event that raises critical funds for the agency as well as awareness of its mission to serve victims of interpersonal violence.
