On Wednesday, Sept. 23, mentors who support the Livingston County Veterans Treatment Court will be honored at an appreciation ceremony that the public is welcome to attend.
There are currently 18 active veteran mentors who are veterans themselves; they volunteer their time to act as coaches, guides, role models, advocates, and support systems for each participant.
“For over a decade, the Livingston County Veterans Treatment Court has played a critical role in providing justice-involved veterans with a second chance at living healthy, productive lives in our community,”said Judge Susan N. Murphy, who presides over the Livingston County Veterans Treatment Court. “The overwhelming success of the Veterans Court is due in large part to the tireless efforts of our veteran mentors – these volunteers tirelessly support their fellow veterans, and it is my privilege to honor them during our Veteran Mentor Appreciation Ceremony.”
The ceremony is set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Livingston County Judicial Center (204 S. Highlander Way, Howell) in Judge Murphy’s courtroom. Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP to Sara Applegate sapplegate@livgov.com.
