Lorna Brennan knew her customers would enjoy the Crust products Uptown Coffeehouse began carrying this week. She’s been excited about carrying the baked goods from the wildly popular Fenton bakery — including almond croissants, chocolate-glazed brioche donuts and cream cheese Danishes — and she knew they would sell well.
She just didn’t know how well, but it didn’t take her long to find out.
The first delivery from Crust arrived Tuesday, April 3; Brennan had to up the order for the coffeehouse the very next day.
It seems her customers find Crust’s handcrafted baked goods, created with artisan baking methods and high-quality ingredients, the perfect accompaniment to Uptown’s coffee.
In addition to baked goods from Crust, Uptown is also now carrying gluten-free products from Tasty Bakery in Ann Arbor, and locally produced pasties from Ron’s Pasties.
In addition to being gluten-free, Tasty’s products are created with natural, organic, local and fair-trade ingredients whenever possible. Tasty also offers dairy-free, vegan, and naturally sweetened options.
Locally owned and in business for over 30 years, Ron’s boasts pasties made with the freshest ingredients available.
Uptown recently celebrated 15 years in business, and as one who fell in love with the coffeehouse when it first opened, I witness how it continues to serve its customers and community well. The establishment — currently undergoing a renovation to take it back to its original, historical design — never stands still for long, likely one of the reasons it was named the Best Coffeehouse in Michigan by Foursquare.
