Two dead in wrong-way crash on I-96

On Sunday March 3, 2019, at approximately 01:34 AM, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to westbound I-96 and Pleasant Valley Road in Brighton Township for a two-vehicle crash.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 43-year-old Farmington Hills resident was operating a 2018 Ford F 150 traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-96 when he struck a 2010 Dodge Journey operated by a 30-year-old Haslett resident head on. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

The Haslett resident was wearing their seatbelt, while the Farmington Hills resident was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed, alcohol and drug use remain under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Brighton Area Fire Department, Livingston County EMS, Green Oak Township Police, and Hamburg Township Police.
