Registration open for LACASA’s Nurturing Parenting Program

Registration is open for LACASA Center’s Nurturing Parenting Program, which begins June 23 and will be held in a virtual format.

The eight-week course, designed specifically for parents of young children (newborn to 11 years old), focuses on overcoming parenting challenges and practicing positive discipline.

Course topics include: practicing empathy, having appropriate expectations, positive discipline, parent/child roles, and power and independence.

This award winning, nationally recognized program is traditionally offered in an in-person setting. Due to social distancing regulations and COVID-19 restrictions, this is the first time that the course is being held virtually.

“We are excited to offer parents the support they need in a virtual format,” said LACASA Parenting Educator Jan Lobur, “This series helps parents connect with each other and learn that they are not alone when it comes to parenting challenges. Throughout the series, parents learn useful information, skills and techniques that help them develop positive parenting practices.”

Nurturing Parenting will be held on Tuesdays from 6 – 7:30 p.m. through virtual Zoom conferencing and will run from June 23 through August 11. Participants who complete the series receive a certificate.

The cost of the program is $100 for one parent or $125 for two parents. The fee covers all class materials. Some scholarships are available.

Advance registration is required. For more information, visit lacasacenter.org. To register, contact our Nurturing Parenting instructor at (517) 548-1350 or email parenting@lacasacenter.org.
