Not So Crazy: Get your cookie fix at Krazy Kookie Mama

Home baker Micki Parker has been a well-kept secret in Pinckney since 2013, known by word-of-mouth as the baker to call for your special occasion cookie needs.

So the squeals of delight you may have heard four months ago were from the cookie-consuming community at the news that Parker had opened a storefront in downtown Pinckney at 153 E Main St. between Salon on Main and Town Square Pizza.

Parker has been baking since she was a kid, and has no formal training.

“I am all self-taught, mostly pre-YouTube,” she says. “I learned from many, many failures!”

She doesn’t have many failures these days. Her specialty is a decorated sugar cookie, and she produces dozens and dozens of custom orders ranging from diaper and baby shapes for showers to fleets of construction vehicles for company picnics to school logos and mascots for graduation parties. On sale at the shop, you might find her popular paint-by-numbers cookies, which include a food-color palette and a brush. Recent versions of this cookie featured sets of “The Golden Girls,” unicorns, and Bob Ross.

In addition to the sugar cookie — her personal favorite, she says — the shop offers “cookie jar cookies,” a rotating selection of peanut butter, butter, chocolate chip, oatmeal and more. A surprising hit has been French macarons (not to be confused with macaroons), an elegant little cookie made from egg whites and almond flour with a creamy filling. The flavors, at times, are very American: Fruity Pebbles, birthday cake, sea salt caramel and cookies ‘n cream are just a few examples you may find on any given day.

With the opening of the shop, Parker has been able to expand her baking to include cinnamon rolls, bagels, Rice Krispy treats, brownies and more. She also added a full coffee menu, using Espresso Royale beans.

Shop hours are currently 7-11 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, with weekend hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The hours are scheduled to expand on July 22 to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
