Donations to the Livingston County United Way on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, will be matched up to total funds available, thanks to local sponsors.

Matching Money Monday has become not just a day to raise funds for community initiatives and programs, but an event that brings Livingston County residents together to celebrate the spirit of the season by generously giving.

Last year, Mike (name changed for privacy) one of many parents supported by this wonderful event. He told his story:

“I was recently awarded full custody of my daughter (because my ex-wife is struggling with substance abuse issues), and I needed to change shifts at my job in order to take care of her. Unfortunately, my employer couldn’t approve my shift change, so I was forced to get another job. With the lapse of income, I missed a rent payment on our home and was served eviction papers. The Eviction Diversion team gave free legal and social services that helped me reach an agreement with my landlord, prevented my case from going to court, and also provided the one month’s rent that I needed. I truly am very grateful for the donations from Matching Money Monday!”

All proceeds raised through this event help struggling local families with nutritious food in local pantries, utility and shelter assistance, and keeping families from being evicted.
