Livingston County Home Show set for April 13-15

Be inspired at the 55th Annual Livingston County Home Show — a collection of landscape and home improvement inspiration — is set for Friday, April 13, through Sunday, April 15, at the Howell High School Fieldhouse, 1200 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell.

“It’s a wonderful community event that connects people eager for inspiration and ideas to the latest and greatest in home and garden projects and products,” said Pat Convery, president of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce. “Livingston County’s largest Home Show brings together everything homeowners could possibly dream of, and it offers builders, landscapers and home improvement companies the opportunity to showcase their skills, products and services.”

Not just home improvement
This year’s Livingston County Home Show features a whole lot more than just home improvement.

The Kids’ Zone in the balcony will feature various activities for the younger show-goers.  Activities in the past have included face painting, animal/reptile interactions, crafts, workshops, balloon animal twisting and a butterfly house. So, don’t leave the kids at home, come see what we have in store for this year! Games, prizes and special giveaways will also be available from many of the exhibitors.

Neighborhood Marketplace
Artisans and crafter exhibits will feature cash and carry items, including baked goods, handmade gifts, wood crafts and the perfect gift for you!

Fine Arts Show
Throughout the home show weekend, the work of local artists will be on display and available for sale in the Howell High School commons located next to the high school cafeteria.  The popular arts show is coordinated by the Livingston Fine Arts Association.

Community Resource Fair
Hosted by the Livingston County United Way, the Community Resource Fair features a wide variety of local non-profit and community organizations.

Taste of Livingston – Saturday
The popular Taste of Livingston County — which has become an annual pilgrimage for hungry folks eager to sample a wide variety of food — runs 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Howell High School cafeteria for just .75 cents a taste.  Come sample tastes from 20 of the area’s best restaurants, delis and caterers all under one roof!

Shred those old tax receipts and documents for free – Saturday
The Shred Day event, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, is open to the public. Corrigan Record Storage will collect business and personal documents for shredding at its facility following the event FREE of charge! Just look for the Corrigan Records truck in the circular drive near the Field House parking lot.

“The Home Show Committee has put together quite a weekend,” said Brenda Barone, coordinator of the event. “There is something for everyone, from do-it-yourselfers to people looking to hire contractors for their projects, to those who just want to gather inspiration and ideas.”

Barone singled out Art Craft Display and Country Lane Flower Shops for their work on the Livingston County Home Show.  “Art Craft provides the floor plan design, booths, drapery, tables, chairs, aisle carpeting and labor for the show,” Barone said. “And Country Lane helps welcome our guests with the flowers and beautiful greenery at the entrance to the show. We are thrilled to partner with them year after year!”

Enter to win
Each day of the show, one lucky person will win $500 in Home Show Bucks, spendable just like cash with any of the Home & Garden Show exhibitors. Event-goers simply fill out their ticket stub for a chance to win. In addition to the daily winners, an additional $500 in Balcony Bucks will be awarded in a special drawing on Sunday of all visitors who entered the drawing in the Home Show balcony area.
