The newest public, year-round gathering place in Livingston County — complete with an ice-skating pavilion and dramatic fire and water features — is set to open on at 4 p.m. Monday, July 13, in downtown Howell with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Located just north of Grand River Avenue and west of Michigan Avenue on land surrounding the historic Howell Depot, the multi-million dollar development will serve as a centerpiece for recreation, community events, and downtown activity.
“We are excited to welcome the community … to celebrate this important milestone,” said Kristi Troy, Howell’s city manager, in a release. “The Fire & Ice Depot District represents an investment in public spaces, recreation, and the continued vitality of our community.”
The ribbon-cutting event will include refreshments, guided tours of the new pavilion, photo opportunities, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the project’s vision, explore the new space, and hear from community leaders.
