Fowlerville has stepped up its game. Big time.
If you haven’t yet checked the new splash pad and playground at Fowlerville Community Park (425 N. Grand Street), throw your kids or grandkids in the car and go there NOW.
The splash pad and playground opened earlier this summer, and they’re the centerpieces of a totally renovated park. It was all made possible by a $2 million grant from the state’s Public Gathering Spaces Initiative.
The splash pad is the only one in Livingston County (we aren’t counting the fountain in Howell that recently closed), and it’s flat-out awesome.
I’ve taken my 3-year-old granddaughter there several times already, and she loves it. There are fountains and buckets and sprayers and all sorts of other water features, and the kids have a blast.
It’s open every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it’s FREE. There’s a parking lot right there and the whole thing couldn’t be more easily accessible.
There isn’t a full bathroom (just a porta-potty), and some people have knocked it for that, but that’s a very minor thing. Just make sure the kids put on their swimsuits before you show up.
The neighboring playground is also very cool, but Livingston County has other cool playgrounds. This is the only one with a splash pad, so it needs to be a destination for your family this summer.

Kudos to everyone in the Village of Fowlerville who sought this grant and then made this happen. Truth be told, Fowlerville is a wonderful town, but aside from the fair, there wasn’t a whole lot to do in the summer.
There is now. The splash pad is fantastic, and Fowlerville is now a summer destination for families looking for a fun afternoon.
If you want a beach day, you’ve got options in Howell, Pinckney and Brighton. If you want a splash-pad day, now you’ve got an option, too.
Way to go, Fowlerville.
