A 69-year-old Fowlerville man is dead after the 2016 Dodge Caravan he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree on Mason Road, just east of Amos Road in Howell Township, at about 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, July 29.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation indicates that the Fowlerville man was traveling west on Mason Road when he may have suffered a medical incident. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver was transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS where he later died..
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be the contributing factors in the crash. The roadway remained closed for three hours for the investigation and clean up.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from Howell Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.
This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
