Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in downtown Brighton between 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, during Brighton’s Holiday Glow, presented by the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce and Hartland Insurance Agency. Santa will magically light the lights at the Mill Pond along with the big Christmas tree, otherwise called the Tree of Hope, to kick off the season, this year we will hire a real beard Santa for the first time!

Children will get a chance to visit with Santa, and enjoy an array of free activities such as horse-drawn hayrides, pictures with actual reindeer, rides on the Jollie-Choo-Choo Train, letter writing to Santa, new Reindeer Games and live entertainment. Entertainment includes Nutcracker performances from the Brighton School of Ballet, live music by the Decibelles A Cappela Group, sing-alongs with Emma the Elf and Eddie the Elf and more!

“Each year this event launches the holiday season, filling downtown Brighton with beautiful lights and warm holiday spirit,” says Jen Ling, director of events at the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s so fun to watch the excitement on the children’s faces when they see Santa and Mrs. Claus come down Main Street.”

New this year, are Reindeer Games, which include Snowball Relay Races, Christmas Musical Chairs, Jingle Bell Tossing, Snowman Launch and Reindeer Bowling. All participants will get a trinket prize for playing.

Guests can also enjoy festive eats by local food vendors, and sponsors and non-profits on the street will have additional activities and treats to enjoy. Cinnamon Nuts and More will be there, with the warm holiday scent of cinnamon filling the street.

Attendees are encouraged to take a photo in front of the Tree of Hope by the Mill Pond either at the event, or throughout December and post to their social media with the hashtag #brightontreeofhope. This tree is a symbol of community for our downtown. By taking a picture in front of this tree and sharing with family and friends, it helps spread the true meaning of the season – love and hope.
