Friends’ 35th Anniversary book sale offers deals and a give-away

Book lovers, young and old, are invited to the Friends’ of the Brighton District Library 35th anniversary Spring Book Sale May 14 – 19.

This year, in celebration of the Friends 35th anniversary, there will be a special give away during the book sale. The sale offers more than 15,000 books plus a large assortment of media items. The vast selection is a favorite this time of year with vacations around the corner and kids soon out of school. The book sale has something for everyone from classics to collectable, vintage to nostalgic, coffee table books, autographed books, picture and chapter books, and more all priced from 50 cents to a dollar.

Friends’ membership night is 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Memberships will be available at the door. The sale opens to the public Wednesday, May 15 through Sunday, May 19. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridaym May 17, and Saturday, May 18 (whihc is bag day, $5 a bag); and 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 19. Scanners will be allowed every day except Members Night on Tuesday, May 14.

“Since 1984 the Friends have sponsored many of the library’s programs and grown tenfold in membership,” said Marsha Luetjen, president of the Friends of the Brighton District Library. “The Friends’ mission remains the same, funding numerous and varied programs and events that would not exist without their funding. The Spring Book Sale and the ‘always open’ Friends Book Nook offers a large selection of paperbacks, hard cover books, children’s and teen books, DVDs, CDs, audio books and more. Stop by the sale and grab a bargain while supporting the library through the Friends.”
