Election security is a hot topic these days as Michigan is likely to play an important role in determining control of the U.S. House and Senate. Despite many checks and balances and election audits, some people still have concerns.
Find out more about what Livingston County is doing to ensure the integrity of our elections by attending a bipartisan panel discussion set to run 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Hamburg Township Library, 10411 Merrill Road, Hamburg. The program is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Livingston County.
The panel discussion will include a brief overview of election security, followed by a period of Q&A for participants to ask questions. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. It will be a hybrid event, with people able to participate both in-person and online via Zoom.
The panel will include:
• Livingston County Clerk Elizabeth Hundley
• Marion Township Clerk/Election Administrator Tammy Beal
• Two bipartisan members of Livingston County Board of Canvassers: Joan Runyan and Judy Williams
• Two bipartisan Livingston County election inspectors: Barbara Janowski and Caitlin Geier
There are many checks and balances in our election system, from decentralized elections to strict rules about equipment and ballot storage, bipartisan requirements to resolve disputes, and more.
