Dress for Less at Career Boutique

The Career Boutique has provided low-income women with work and career attire since 1995. For 17 years, women in our county have been helping other women grow towards greater independence and self-sufficiency in this way.

When LACASA merged with the Family Resource Center last December, Love INC was asked if they could carry on this much-needed service for area women. Love INC accepted the challenge and found a new location at Living Stone Church in Brighton.

“This is an example of true collaboration between Love INC and agencies that help individuals in need move forward with their lives,” said Katherine Janego, Executive Director of Love INC. “We are pleased that Living Stone Church had the generosity, space and commitment to carry on this 17-year-old program.”

Women in need of clothing are asked to make a “boutique appointment” by calling Love INC at 517-552-3620. All clothing is provided at no charge.

Donations may be dropped off at Love INC, 820 E Grand River in Howell, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For additional donation information, call the Love INC Clearinghouse at 517-552-3620.

“Many women who work in retail and restaurant environments need dark or khaki pants and nice shirts and blouses,” said Polly Mallory, former director of the FRC and now Early Childhood Development Director for LACASA. “While some women still wear suits to work, the trend is on women wearing separates.”
