Brunner’s getting new name, location

Mourad’s Grill is set to become Brunner’s on the River.

After operating Brunner’s for five years in the Promenade Center in Howell, Kathy Russell is taking her restaurant and catering business a short distance east to a new home.

Russell has purchased the Mourad’s Grill building at 2222 E. Grand River Ave. from owner George Mourad, who is retiring. Brunner’s will close in the Promenade Center on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, and reopen as Brunner’s on the River in its new location the next morning.

“It’s exciting,” Russell said. “Our vision has always been to expand.”

Brunner’s will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on a split basis, with morning hours, and then hours later in the day.

After the liquor license transfer is complete, Brunner’s on the River will feature a selection of beer, wines and cocktails. There will also be the addition of a new dinner menu.

The new location will allow Brunner’s on the River to spread its wings and with a larger building that will better accommodate the catering portion of its business.
